FEAR NOT

Deuteronomy 20:1-4, 8

As Moses prepared the people for war it was important for them to see everything through spiritual eyes instead of through physical eyes.

As they faced what appeared to be insurmountable odds they needed to find courage in the strength of the Lord.

Many of us believe that fear is for the weak but fear is actually necessary in order for there to be courage.

There is no courage without fear.

Fear is an unavoidable reality of life. We must be careful not to dismiss or take lightly the impact it can have on us.

We need to understand that fear can either drive us to the Lord or away from Him. When properly aligned with God’s will it becomes a tool that can heighten our senses and prevent us from blindly rushing into a bad situation.

On the other hand if we allow the fear we encounter to consume us, it can cripple us, rendering us ineffective, and even taking us completely out of the fight.

God calls us not to be afraid.  (Isaiah 41:10)

That does not mean that we should never have fear but instead He is saying that although fear is a real human emotion we are to give it to Him and trust that He is with us.

Fear should never be our main focus as it draws us away from God.

We must be ready and prepared physically, emotionally, and spiritually in every situation or we open ourselves up to defeat.

When we understand that we are not alone and that God is with us, then our fear becomes courage because we have placed our faith and trust in Him instead of focusing on the fear. (Psalm 56:4)
